1. The narrator said "Previously on Lost" and the clips seamlessly rolled into the beginning of the episode.
2. They saw the back of The Statue!
3. Sawyer heroically jumped into the well when it re-appeared.
4. Sawyer is the new leader both with his small group of Left Behinders and as Head of DI Security!
I wonder if he ever got to repeat his line: "There's a new sheriff in town, ya'll best be getting used to it."
Connect The Dots
The statue the Left Behinders saw must have been the top of the four-toed statue we saw in the Season 2 finale.

I probably don't need to remind all of you who Horace Goodspeed was before we got to see him become a daddy in tonight's episode but here's a history lesson anyway: When Benjamin Linus was born early, his father carried him and his mother out of the woods and the first car he flagged down was driven by Horace. Horace is the reason Ben came to the island when he later gave Ben's father a job. Horace died during "the purge," we saw him sitting on a bench and Ben closed his eyes. Hoarce later appeared to Locke in a dream, he was building Jacob's cabin.
Details and Easter Eggs
The only reference we have to the year the Left Behinders landed in was when Sawyer was talking to Richard. He said he knew Locke walked into Richard's camp "20 years ago." So they must have been jumping between 1974 and 1977 during this episode.
The early speculation I've found about the statue is it's the Egyptian god of Anubis. In this picture it's even holding a necklace like Paul's (Amy's first husband.) I have a few doubts that that is what it is, but I'll save them for my weekend post.We got to see some new Dharma logos. The Security logo was pretty cool. The star is reminiscent of a sheriff's star. But I really liked Juliet's better when she was working in the garage. It had a wrench in the middle!
It appears that the Dharma people are not having the same baby troubles that Juliet was brought to the island to figure out. The intern mentioned that women don't have their babies on the island because they all go to the mainland. But we learned a long time ago that it is the 2nd trimester that pregnant women start having problems. They never make it to their 3rd. They said that Amy's baby was only 2 weeks early which places her well into her 3rd trimester.
Did you notice that we didn't see Daniel in any of the "Three years later" clips? And we don't see him in the "Three years earlier" clips after he sees Charlotte as a little girl. Part of his mumbling was that he "wouldn't tell her this time." But we all know he will.
It was interesting how Richard said the sonic fence could keep out other things but not them. I guess this goes back to the reason they don't leave tracks, and other suggestions that they can appear anywhere they want.
My Questions
Are we going to see Ben as little boy again? If he isn't on the island in 1977 then he should be getting there soon. What do you think "La Fleur" will do?
I guess Jack, Kate, and Hurley flashed to the past when the rest of Flight 316 landed on present-day Hydra island. What about Sun, Sayid, and Lapidis?
So what do you think? What will happen to Juliet and Sawyer's happy little home now that Jack and Kate are back? What has happened to Daniel? Will they ever get back to 2007?
Namaste!

Ha. The whole time Sawyer was talkin to Horace about getting over someone in three years I was thinkin, YEAH RIGHT. As soon as Kate gets back, you're gonna be all gah-gah over her again (which he was under the impression that he was never going to see her again... So, I guess he could have moved on, but as long as she's in the picture... YEAH STINKIN RIGHT). Nice try, Sawyer.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I am NOT skater fan.
Best line was sawyer referring to Richard as "eyeliner"
ReplyDeleteI've seen a god named Horus mentioned as the god that was the statue, which would match with Horace being such a vital part of the episode. Also that the god Horus enemy is name Seth which in the bible has a son named Enos (Miles darma name) Its pretty convincing to me. Also the Ankh that is on the necklace is also on in Horus had, which you can see the statue in the picture holding something in its hand.
This god is over eternal life... (RICHARD!!!!!)
My favorite line in the show was when Sawyer and Miles jumped in the car and Sawyer called him Enos. I thought it was a hilarious Dukes of Hazzard reference.......Enos was one of the sidekick deputies to Sheriff Roscoe P Coletrain.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible that Jack, Kate, Hugo are on "the island" in 1977 where we got a glimpse of them re-connecting with Sawyer and Jinn ..... but the 316 plane with Locke, Frank, Sun, Caesar, etc.... are on the Hydra Island in 2007?
My LOST group and I have been referring to Richard as Guyliner for a few months now.
