Connect-the-Dots
Jack mentioned that his father's body was wearing white tennis shoes. This explains why anytime we see Christian in his suit (like in "White Rabbit"or "Something Nice Back Home") he is in white tennis shoes.

I know this one is really stating the obvious, but Jack woke up in the same bamboo forest as he did in the pilot episode. I was expecting Vincent to come running up to him just like before.
We finally got see Ajira Airways in action, after getting a tease of them on the water bottle last week.
It was great to go to Island 101 with Professor Hawking in the Lamp Post Station. The most enlightening quote was when she said "The island was always moving."
"How can you read?" -Jack
"Because my mother taught me." -Ben
I was so busy laughing at this line that I didn't notice it was a lie! It hit me hours later that Ben's mother died at his birth, she couldn't have taught him to read! Does he ever tell the truth?
Theories
I have two theories I'd like to throw out before I start reading everywhere that other people had the same thoughts.
The first is why Jin was in the Dharma suit. I think when Locke fixed the donkey wheel the Left Behinders got stuck in whatever time period they were in at that moment. This could have been in the 70's during Dharma Initiative days. Then they spent the next 3 years there and assimilated in with the DI. We know that 3 years have passed for the Oceanic 6. With this theory, 3 years have also passed for the Left Behinders.
I have to credit my friend Patrick for coming up with this next theory. I think Ben was beat up by Desmond. Remember it's a personal goal of his to kill Widmore's daughter. When he saw Desmond at the church he had to assume Penny was waiting somewhere near. He told Jack "I made a promise to an old friend of mine. Just a loose end that needs tying up." And when he calls Jack, he is calling from a marina. (Penny lives on a boat.) I'm very hopeful for my favorite couple since it appears that Ben's mission didn't seem to go as he planned.
Similarities between Flights 316 and 815
In order to get back to the island, they had to re-create as much of the original flight 815 as possible. I'm not sure why no one called Walt.
Here's the similarities I could find.
316: Hurley had a guitar case. 815: Charlie had a guitar case.
316: US Marshal escorting a prisoner (Sayid) 815: US Marshal escorting a prisoner (Kate)
316: Frank Lapidis was the pilot. 815: Lapidis was supposed to be the pilot.
316: Jack escorting a body in a casket. 815: Jack escorting a body in a casket.
I'm sure you guys can come up with a few more! Leave me a note below! Also, I'd love to hear your theories of who beat up Ben, how Hurley found out about the flight, and what happened to Aaron.
Namaste!
V

Well, based on him being able to run to the lagoon and not pass through the beach, it wasn't where he woke up at in the first episode. I'm not sure if they wanted us to think it was the same spot though.
ReplyDeleteAnd I had the same thought about Jin being with Dharma. As soon as magic I feel no pain Locke reset the donkey wheel, they stopped, he Jump off the island (like Ben) and the rest of the jumpers stayed put on the island when it stopped. I'm also going to throw in that when we saw Daniel in the Dharma suit a few episodes back, when he and the Dharma crew first discover the donkey wheel, that that is a flash-back to a future version of Daniel. Like Jin is now with Dharma, it would logically make sense that Daniel had done the same thing and was part of the science team that discovered the wheel.
And my theory on how Hurley found out about the flight is that Charlie told him, and told him to bring a guitar. It won' be Charlie's guitar from the island, since that didn't make it off the island with the O6, but I'm going to guess that we'll find that Hurley bought it for a price from a collector, since Charlie is a famous now-dead musician.
I still think Hurley is a waste, but I thought it was cool that he bought out all the seats he could on the plane, to save those who would be flying with them.
And, if you all want some more research, Hurley is reading a rather amazing comic series (in Spanish) called Y - The Last Man. It's a story about a guy who is the sole survivor of a mysterious apocalypse that kills every male on the planet, except him. So he is the "last man." And apparently, the writer of the comic is now a writer on LOST, so it could just be an homage to the new guy. Or it could tie in later. You decide.
so here's a theory in its infancy stage:
ReplyDeleteClearly, Locke had to sacrifice himself in order to get back to the island. Well, who's to say that Jack's father didn't do the same in order to get to the island or rather back to the island. I'm just saying.
Shultsie I like your idea. I think it's safe to assume that Locke's coffin is about to be as empty as Christian's was in "White Rabbit."
ReplyDeleteMore 316/815 flight similarities...
ReplyDelete- Sun is separated from her husband (physically-316, emotionally, 815)
- presence of Hispanic/Latino character (Anna Lucia & the new guy) that is a relatively well-known actor.
- the Oceanic 5-out-of-6 are all in the front half of the plane.
***That's all I got...off the top of my head.
it has been discussed in my house, and we think you are crazy. :) of course the business ben was tending to was penny. but he did not get beat up. he killed penny. that's why there was so much blood when he was making the phone call. it's clear he's been through a physical ordeal, but it does not look like he was beat up. and we suspect his plan went exactly as he'd hoped. he's just a bit rattled from the brutal murder he just committed. i hope we're wrong, because penny is great. but i bet we're right.
ReplyDeleteLA - Of course, I love Desmond and Penny and would not want any harm to come to them, but that is not my sole basis for my theory. Ben may have tried to kill Penny but there is no way all the blood was hers. If it was then why are there still scrapes on his face later on the plane. And what about his arm being in a sling. That doesn't seem like it it went "exactly as he'd hoped." I also don't buy your theory that he was "rattled from the brutal murder." Ben has killed many times and he wasn't even that rattled when Alex died. He was depressed yes, but not emotional.
ReplyDelete(P thinks your distance from us has caused you to lose your edge.)
maybe i shouldn't have said it went exactly as he'd hoped. but i still think he accomplished what he set out to do. perhaps penny put up a bit of a fight. she is a Widmore, and a Widmore wouldn't go down without a fight! and yes, ben has killed many times before, but it was pointed out last week that ben doesn't seem as in control and together as he used to be. i am not losing my edge. ben is.
