I wanted to give you guys a little information before you watch the new episode tomorrow night. I promise to be spoiler-free.
Now that Michael is back, I had two burning questions. How long has he been gone in island-time? And did he ever cross paths with Desmond? I did some research and found the answers.
I didn't find an actual day-count for how long Michael's been gone. But did learn it has been "about a month."
He and Desmond probably won't recognize each other. The only time their paths would have crossed was at the end of Season 2 in "Live Together, Die Alone." All the losties (including Michael) were on the beach attending the Libby/Ana-Lucia funeral when Desmond's sailboat appeared. Desmond came ashore and had conversations with Jack and Locke that evening. But appeared to stay separated from any group meet-and-greets. It also appears that Desmond spent the night on his sailboat. It was the next morning that Micheal left with the four people on his "list." It's a little ambiguous so the writers could write it either way. But I believe the boys will be meeting for the first time.
