S4 E4 Eggtown

Hey Everyone!

Those Lost writers are so amazing! I was very disappointed in myself for not even considering that the baby could be Aaron! It seems like such an obvious possibility in retrospect.

The fact that the baby is Aaron excites me for a couple reasons. First of all, it appears he and Kate will have to use time travel upon returning to the real world. The timeline would have to be slightly askew for everyone to believe that he is Kate’s baby. Remember, Claire was about 8 months pregnant when the plane crashed. Since Kate was arrested in Australia, there would be a record of her not appearing to be pregnant when she boarded the plane. Being a mother myself, I can report that, for any child under two years old, you cannot “fudge” their age by 9 months. They just grow and develop too quickly. But this is Lost and time travel is very possible.

Another reason this excites me is what it means regarding Claire. It’s seems unlikely that Claire would separate from Aaron for any other reason but death. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t wish to see Claire die. But it has been rumored that one of the main characters would die this season. If we believe it will be Claire we can breathe easy about the fate of our other favorites. (Better her than Desmond, in my opinion!)

The fact that Jack doesn’t want to see Aaron is such a puzzler. Aaron is his nephew. Even though Jack doesn’t know that now, I think he will learn it eventually. It had to have been in his file, so at least Juliet and Ben know. But even if Jack doesn’t know his relation to Aaron, it’s not like him to hold a grudge, especially against an innocent child.

One insight about Kate: she seems to be the only one of the known Oceanic 6 who isn’t lost. Jack, Hurley, and Sayid all seem to be doing what they are “supposed” to do but not comfortable with it, like they are on the wrong path. Kate seems to have more direction in life than ever before. Taking care of Aaron has defined her and guides her every decision. Unfortunately, one of those decisions, to stay in the state of California, legally prohibits her from returning to the island for the next 10 years. But at least this explains her resolve when she met bearded Jack at the airport in last year’s season finale.

I won’t pretend to know what Daniel and Charlotte were doing with the playing cards. It seemed to be a timed short term memory test using Dharma playing cards. Apparently this kind of short term memory testing is a standard part of a psychological exam.

Anyone understand the words the crowds were shouting at Kate outside the courthouse? I listened to it until my ears started to bleed but just couldn’t make out what the bearded man said. According a witness who was there during shooting, the crowd was supposed to be yelling things along the lines of “We don’t like you!” And as for the bearded man, he was shouting “We hate you!” backwards!

Next week’s episode is named “The Constant.” Here is the description from abc: Sayid and Desmond hit a bit of turbulence on the way to the freighter, which causes Desmond to experience some unexpected side effects.

Namaste!
